Millennial Pink

I am a big fan of the Millennial Pink (gender-neutral range of pinks from pinky beige to salmon) trend, that has been all the rage in fashion and interiors recently, but I have to admit, I didn’t expect to see a house in my neighbourhood getting painted in it!
Driving past was a jaw dropping moment. I was amazed by how beautiful it looked, not only enhancing the architecture, but blending harmoniously with the surrounding environment.

Luckily the next time I drove past, the owner was outside and I stopped to chat to her. She was delighted that I loved the colour and when I asked her why she had chosen pink, she replied that she was so tired of seeing earth tones and greys everywhere and found it all quite depressing. Desperate for something fresh and uplifting she decided on pink. It had not been an easy decision and she had tried plenty of samples before settling on a muted pink called Little Bambino from Plascon.

Here are some reasons why we could all do with a bit of pink in our lives:

PINK IN COLOUR THERAPY

Pink is emotionally soothing and calming especially in times of crisis.  Pink relaxes the muscles, releases tension and aggression and calms the mind. It is a peace loving colour and brings an air of optimism and happiness.

PINK IN DECOR

Pink is gentle, cozy and gives a healthy glow to the complexion, so it’s a great colour for the bedroom and bathroom.
The perfect compliment to Pink is Green and this contemporary combination is very popular at the moment.
Pink and Grey, which has been around for a while, is another beautiful pairing. When pink is used with greys and black it becomes more sophisticated.

While millennial pink is new for my neighbourhood, it has been used on hotels and homes for years. Here are a few others, that not only blend in with the environment, but really enhance it.

It’s so important that the exterior of your home fits into the surroundings, but that does not necessarily mean earthtones. Sometimes its worth looking up rather than down or sideways for inspiration. Selecting a unique colour choice may look better than you could have dreamed.
