Situated on the banks of Venice’s Grand Canal is the beautiful Cima Rosa boutique B&B.

Cima Rosa was created by a dynamic couple, Brittany (who is originally American) and her Venetian architect husband. The young family had been looking for a home in Venice for a while – and had almost given up – when they heard about a villa on the banks of the Grand Canal that had fallen into disrepair.
Property on the Grand Canal is very rare and unafordable, but they decided to have a look.
The rest is history as they fell totally in love with it, seeing past all the work that was needed, to the incredible structure and potential it had. With a dream and a vision they would renovate the 3 level Villa and turn it into a boutique B&B with one level as their home.
I got to see the B&B while in Venice for the Architectural Biennale and was blown away by the beautiful restored architecture and renovated design.
The interiors are a collection of past and present elegantly juxtaposed to reflect modern day living in an old fashioned setting.

The Reception
The B&B has a homely feel to it, with an open plan reception, lounge and kitchen area. The furniture throughout is a mix of exquisite antiques – all bought from antique shops in Venice – and modern minimalist furniture.

A masterful mix of old and new furniture beautifully styled.

Rooms with a View

The bold and sleek black doors with shiny brass lion head knockers are framed by aged Venetian plaster and incredible period decorative moldings.
The bedroom suites are uncluttered and minimalist creating a serene and relaxing space. The walls are painted a calming sage green which blends perfectly with the view.
A look out the window and you feel like you are on a boat, floating down the Grand Canal.

While similar in style, each bedroom is unique with it’s own living area.
The floors were restored and are a mix of original wooden flooring and terrazzo.

These stunning antique work benches give Venetian flair to the modern bathrooms.

A huge thank you to the stylish and talented Brittany who was so kind to show me around her Boutique B&B.
Her love and passion for Venice is evident in the design of the interiors and her recommendations to guests.
Here she explains how she used dried hydrangeas from her sisters wedding in the decor.
