Many of the paint companies have launched their 2021 colour forecasts and it’s always fun and inspiring to see the colours as well as learn about what’s driving them, especially as colour has such a huge impact on our mood and well-being.

Here are some of the highlights of the 2021 colour forecasts launched so far:

Sherwin Williams 2021 Colour of the Year

Urban Bronze, a colour embodying the richness of the earth’s stone, metal and wood which forges a feeling that is grounded, meditative and calm.

A desire for normalcy, stability and security, is resulting in earthy brown shades, rooted in nature making a comeback. The earthy, grounded associations of brown represent simple, modest and honest living, making it easy to live with.

Pantone Colour of the Year 2021?

Waiting in anticipation I can’t help wondering what it might be.

After the 2016 US election a zesty green called Greenery was selected as the Pantone 2017 Colour of the Year. Symbolizing renewal and regrowth it was to give reassurance amid a tumultuous social and political environment.

Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2020 was timeless Classic Blue, so will they go for an uplifting, inspiring or motivating colour for 2021 or will they opt for a more grounded, comfy and earthy hue?

Perhaps in a similar vein to Farrow & Ball they will go for more than one colour. I guess we will have to wait until December to see.

Above all, we need a balance of all colours to lead a healthy and happy life, so it’s great to see these timeless colour palettes including colour therapy.
