I am an interior designer offering inspiration and interior design services conveniently to your inbox. Inspired by nature, art, architecture and travel my designs are layered but light and comfortable. I love how the stylish use of colour can add life and personality to a space.
Through a collaborative design process my aim is to create beautiful interiors that achieve the style and design goals of my clients, with solutions that are inspiring, uplifting, sustainable and, most of all, comfortable.
Background
Born with a love of art and colour I was fortunate to turn this into a career early on when I joined South Africa’s leading paint company. I set up their colour marketing department and initiated many colour and design projects including South Africa’s first colour forecast, paint effects workshops and an award winning decor magazine.
My colour journey included being a panel member on international colour trend forecasting panels, judging Decor shows as well as doing talks and writing articles for decor titles.
Breaking service for a few years I worked as a decorative painter for a decorative art company in London, working on some amazing projects from King Hussein’s Palace in Jordan to an English manor house in Nova Scotia.
After leaving a successful corporate career to pursue interior design, I studied at the KLC School of Design in London.
Influences
Living in the subtropical city of Durban on the east coast of South Africa, my style has been influenced by the beautiful nature and African culture that surrounds me.
A short stay with renowned colour therapy guru Theo Gimbel taught me the incredible healing qualities and energy of colour. After that, I obtained a diploma in Colour Therapeutics for Interiors.
Mission
Recently I have been shocked by the damaging impact uninformed design can have on our health as well as the natural world. My mission is therefore to create beautiful, comfortable and healthy spaces that are informed, sustainable and vegan.
The Vegan Society
Having learnt a huge amount about sustainability and the role veganism can play from The Vegan Society.
I became the South African Agent for The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark in 2021 with the hope of making it easier for people to identify vegan products that have been independently tested by a trusted source.
